How the figures above are worked out — the rules, rates and reasoning behind every line.
Zakat on income (zakat pendapatan) is payable on your yearly earnings if they reach the nisab, the threshold equal to the value of 85 grams of gold.
The rate is 2.5%. Some methods let you first deduct basic living costs and dependants.
Important: pay zakat to the authority in the state where you work — not where you live. If you earn in Kuala Lumpur but live in Selangor, you pay PPZ-MAIWP (Wilayah Persekutuan), not LZS.

Zakat on income is 2.5% of your zakatable earnings, payable once they reach the nisab. On RM60,000 zakatable income that's RM1,500.
The nisab is the minimum amount of wealth before zakat is due, set to the value of 85 grams of gold. Each state's zakat authority publishes the current figure twice a year.
Pay the board in the state where you work, not where you live. Example: you live in Selangor but work in KL — pay PPZ-MAIWP (Wilayah Persekutuan). Use the state dropdown in the calculator to match your workplace.
