How your water is charged

Water is charged in blocks: the first 20 m³ a month at RM0.65 per m³, the next 15 m³ at RM1.62, and anything above 35 m³ at RM3.51. The minimum charge is RM6.50.

Households using 20 m³ or less saw no change in the September 2025 review. Heavy users pay a lot more, so cutting the last few cubic metres saves the most.

Who these rates apply to

Domestic premises on an individual meter in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Condominiums and flats on a bulk meter pay RM2.09 per m³, and low-cost homes have their own rate. Other states set their own tariffs.

How much water does a household use?

A typical household of four uses around 20–30 m³ a month. One cubic metre is 1,000 litres.

Is the sewerage charge included?

No. Indah Water (IWK) bills sewerage separately, so it isn't part of this calculation.
