RP4 tariff (from 1 July 2025). Retail charge, AFA and service tax are waived at or below 800 kWh (temporary relief until 31 Dec 2026; 600 kWh from 2027). KWTBB applies above 300 kWh. AFA pre-filled for October 2026 (+3.61 sen/kWh) — adjust when ST announces a new month.

Example scenarios

  • 400 kWh a month

At 44.43 sen/kWh plus 1.6% KWTBB; retail charge, AFA and service tax waived.

    ≈ RM180.56

  • 800 kWh a month

800 × 44.43 sen plus 1.6% KWTBB, under the Sep–Dec 2026 relief. From 2027 (600 kWh threshold, zero AFA) it's ≈ RM378.24 with retail charge and service tax.

    ≈ RM361.13

Understanding the numbers

How the figures above are worked out — the rules, rates and reasoning behind every line.

The new TNB tariff (RP4)

From 1 July 2025, TNB's domestic tariff is built from an energy charge plus a retail charge, instead of the old tiered blocks.

The combined energy rate is about 44.43 sen/kWh for usage up to 1,500 kWh (54.43 sen above). The RM10 retail charge, AFA and service tax are waived for usage of 600 kWh or less (800 kWh from September to December 2026).

How it's calculated

Bill = usage × energy rate + AFA − efficiency incentive, then + 1.6% KWTBB (above 300 kWh), + 8% service tax on the usage above the threshold, + RM10 retail charge (above the threshold).

Examples assume zero EEI unless you enter it — in October 2026 the AFA surcharge is +3.61 sen/kWh.
