Monthly income uses the 4% safe-withdrawal guideline. EPF uses the latest 6.15% dividend and a 3% yearly pay rise. "Today's money" removes inflation so you can judge it against what things cost now. Returns aren't guaranteed; this is a projection, not advice.

Understanding the numbers

How the figures above are worked out — the rules, rates and reasoning behind every line.

Estimates only. Results are for planning purposes and may differ from official figures. Confirm against the relevant authority before making financial decisions.

Are you on track?

This grows your savings and monthly contributions at an expected return up to your retirement age. Add your EPF balance and salary and it projects your EPF separately, with the latest dividend rate and your employer's share.

It then shows the total in today's money, after inflation, and applies the 4% safe-withdrawal guideline to show roughly how much monthly income it could sustain at today's prices.

How it's calculated

Your current savings and each monthly contribution are compounded monthly at your expected annual return until retirement.

The 4% rule assumes you withdraw 4% of the pot in the first year, giving a rough sustainable monthly income. Returns and inflation are not guaranteed — this is a projection, not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

How much do I need to retire in Malaysia?

A common guide is 2/3 of your last drawn income per month. Use the projected monthly income here against your expected expenses to gauge the gap.

Does this include my EPF?

Yes, if you enter your EPF balance and monthly salary. EPF is projected on its own: 11% from you, 12–13% from your employer, the latest dividend rate and a 3% yearly pay rise. Leave EPF out of your other savings so it isn't counted twice.
