ASB pays on the lowest monthly balance, so mid-year top-ups earn a part-year dividend. Holdings are capped at RM300,000 per person. Past distributions (≈5–5.75 sen/unit) don't guarantee future ones.

Example scenarios

  • RM50k + RM500/mo at 5%

On a month-weighted average balance of about RM53,250.

    ≈ RM2,663 dividend

  • RM100k lump sum at 5.5%

A full-year balance earns the whole rate, no proration.

    RM5,500 dividend

Understanding the numbers

How the figures above are worked out — the rules, rates and reasoning behind every line.

How ASB pays you

Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) is a fixed-price unit trust by ASNB. Each year it declares an income distribution (the 'dividend') in sen per unit.

Because the dividend is calculated on your lowest balance each month, money added partway through the year only earns a part-year return.

How the estimate works

We apply your rate to a month-weighted average balance: units held all year earn the full rate, while a regular monthly top-up is held on average about 6.5 of the 12 months.

Recent ASB distributions have ranged roughly 5.0 to 5.75 sen per unit. Past performance does not guarantee future returns, so treat this as an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

What was the ASB dividend rate?

It changes yearly and is announced by ASNB, recently in the region of 5.0–5.75 sen per unit. Enter the rate you expect; the default is editable.

Why is my dividend lower than balance × rate?

ASB pays on the minimum monthly balance, so top-ups made during the year earn a part-year dividend, not the full annual rate.
